On October 6, about 22 participants hailing from 6 countries joined OIC staff members in making kinoko pasta, onion gratin soup, and whole tomato salad. First, participants went shopping together and learned which ingredients would be used in the recipes. Everyone also learned about the five basic seasonings used in traditional Japanese cooking (sugar, salt, vinegar, soy sauce, and miso) and how to incorporate them into their home cooking. In groups, participants worked together to make the menu before sitting down to have a wonderful lunch together.

The Center sincerely thanks all the participants for coming to enjoy this year’s cooking class and hopes that everyone will continue to make the recipes they learned in their own homes. See you next year!
